Factors contributing to university dropout: a review
IntroductionDropout is one of the problems that the university education system has to face every year. The educational community is involved in the reasons for its trajectory as a social problem, which does not exempt any student in the world. Its study and improvement of the education system is a key element in changing the course of university dropout and alleviating its rapid growth in society.MethodologyUsing a quantitative and qualitative methodology, an attempt is made to provide answers to the objectives pursued by the research.ObjectivesTo analyze student satisfaction, to specify the causes of dropout, and to determine the most appropriate authors on dropout by means of literature and different databases.ConclusionsIt is concluded that, are five main major components would be behind university dropout: student adaptation, personality, socio-economic level, teacher鈥搒tudent relationship, and quality in university education. With them come certain sub-causes that must be taken into account for a better understanding of the reasons for university dropout, such as demotivation, low self-esteem, frustration, pregnancy, among others, reasons why their study is essential for their future eradication
Bullying in Adolescents Practising Sport: A Structural Model Approach
This article aims to analyse the relationship between the bullying aggressor and bullying
victim profile related to practising or not practising sport in adolescents living in southern Spain. The
research includes male and female participants aged between 12 and 16 years in different secondary
schools in the provinces of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla in the period between February 2022 and
June 2022. The study aims to extend the existing scientific, theoretical and empirical knowledge
on the influence of playing sport or not on disruptive bullying attitudes in adolescents. To this
end, two initial hypotheses were designed; the first hypothesises that bullying victim behaviours
are associated with future bullying aggressor behaviours when practising sport; and the second
states that victim behaviours are associated with future bullying aggressor behaviours when not
practising sport. To verify them, SPSS software was used for the preliminary analysis of the scale
and sociodemographic profile. Additionally, the study is based on structural equation modelling
methodology and variance-based methods employing SmartPLS v3.3 software. The results show
the importance of sport or physical activity to reduce the chances of carrying out bullying actions
on other peers and/or classmates. Therefore, it is considered necessary to prevent bullying in the
classroom by implementing sports intervention programmes in educational centres
Sustainable Economic Development Education: The Use of Artificial Neural Networks for the Profile Estimation of Students from Developing Countries
The study was carried out in line with the ethical recommendations proposed in previous research in the same field and observing the principles and
recommendations of the Declaration of Helsinki.Environmentally friendly behaviour and the equitable and sustainable use of natural resources can contribute to solving various environmental, economic, and social problems in different countries. The analysis of the perception of young students is important because schools are suitable for educating future generations and shaping their attitudes to also include a greater concern for the environment. This research aims to determine the degree of influence that a series of Likert-type questions of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours about sustainable development has on a series of items of the student profile (gender, age, course, and household members) in a developing country. For this, an artificial neural network is used that allows us not only to quantify the degree of influence but also to obtain an estimation of the student鈥檚 profile according to the responses obtained on sustainable development. The network developed allows us to obtain, through a determined collection of answers to questions about sustainable development, the estimation of a specific profile of a student from a developing country. This can be useful to educational communities interested in optimising economic resources through sustainable development, allowing them to know which issues they should focus more (or less) on according to the profile of the student they are targetin
